Sorhea's Baptism

Every week is exciting out here, but this week was really exciting.  One of our investigators in a family we're teaching got baptized!  She's ten and she's amazing.  Even though she's young, she's really smart and I think it just comes to show how this generation has a lot of potential and Heavenly Father really has reserved us to come down here at this time.  She's the leader of the family and an excellent example for her younger sister.  The baptism was very spiritual and sweet.  Her mom is planning on getting baptized next month and their family is honestly a special gift to us.  I don't have much time but here are some pictures!

Much Love,

Forbes to Mississippi ... and "shout out" to Catie!

So this week has been really exciting. Sister Forbes got her mission call and she's going to (drumroll please)....the Mississippi Jackson Mission.
She'll be going to the Provo MTC September 10 and hopefully she'll go to Utah a few days before so that she could see the Salt Lake Temple (her dream temple). She was just as excited (maybe a little more) about the fact that she's speaking english as I was.

So yeah, we're really excited about all of that.

We're also excited because a girl in a family that we're teaching is planning to get baptized on Saturday. She's a fireball and super excited about it! Her mom is planning on getting baptized in June and they're just an amazing family.

Sister Forbes and I have really gained testimonies on the advice that we've been given that the secret to missionary work is really loving the people and once you love the people, everything else will fall in place. The Lord's hand is in the fabric of our lives and it's just amazing.

This morning we hiked the volcano again, La Soufrier, and it was very foggy and rainy but we still had a blast.

I don't have much time but shout out to Catie this week who is getting married, Congrats, I love you!

Much Love,
Sister Crompton

Barbados Zone Conference

Hello Everyone!

Well this past week was pretty amazing. We went to Barbados for Zone Conference and we had a blast. I was able to stay with Sister Hawkes in their super nice apartment and meet a lot of other new sisters that have recently joined the West Indies clan. The first thing we noticed when flying into Barbados was realizing how flat everything is. We weren't able to see a lot of Barbados, mostly just the church building and the apartment and for our workout in the morning we ran on the beach :)

I did see 2 monkeys along the fences right outside the building which was pretty interesting!

One thing I really liked that President Mehr mentioned when talking to us was that our spirits teach our body things and our bodies teach our spirits. Like our bodies are teaching our spirits to be humble when we kneel down and pray and how are spirits are teaching our bodies when we get up really early in the morning and we feel tired, our spirit is saying "get up!!" So something he told us to ask ourselves is "who is teaching who today?"

I don't have much time but I love you all and I hope that everyone is doing well

Love,

Sister Crompton

Timing is EVERYTHING

This week has been VERY busy and full of UPs and DOWNs
(but hey, there is opposition in ALL things right?)
Last week we were able to contact someone who attended the baptism and she said she wanted to meet with us.
She's a mother of 2 girls (one 4 and one 10) and after meeting with them twice, they already want to be baptized! The 10 year old is a firecracker and is SOO excited to get baptized, she said she's been waiting to get baptized for a LONG time (and she's only ten! haha)
They came to church yesterday and it's amazing how prepared they are to receive this gospel!
We ran into a Jehova's Witness and he tried to give us trouble, but I've come to learn that they can fight with scriptures all they want but as soon as we bear our testimony and the Spirit is there, they can't say a word. It just goes to show how the Holy Ghost can witness truth to ALL people.
We've been pretty busy this week becuase we are getting ready for Zone Conference in Barbados!
And if my 1st semester FHE family was wondering (Freddie, Derrick, Derek, Catie, Louisa, Gabbi, Rachel, Sam, you know who you are) YES that is where Katrina Hawkes is and YES I will see her, crazy right?!
We're both REALLY excited to say the least.
I've learned how important timing is EVERYTHING and everything happens for a reason and how the Lord is expecting us to learn at ALL times, especially when things are going rough.
He humbles us so we can open our eyes and learn from what's going on around us.
Like my bishop told said back in my first week out at school
"the more uncomfortable we are, the more willing we are to learn"- Bishop England
