I remember I was in 3rd Grade. At the time we were living in upstate New York living with my grandparents. Like every other day, I rode my scooter to school. When I did get to school I remember being very confused on what was going on. Our teachers wouldn't tell us what had happened or what was going on. I got a letter to give to my parents and was told not to open it and to go home early. I'm pretty sure I got home around 11am and my mom had the news on and that's when I found out. I was young and didn't fully understand why and what was happening.
It's crazy to think that was 11 years ago. Life is so unexpected and I'm so grateful for everything I have been given.
Today I woke up at 10:48am...My first class was at 11. Luckily, I made it on time. This morning I was rushing so much and worrying about little things and after my class I went to walk to the finance building and then I saw this.
I couldn't believe that I had forgotten what day it was.
I was so glad that I was able to stop and think about my life and relationships and how precious and fragile they are. I'm so grateful to have grown up in a home where I was able to see my dad serve in the military and really appreciate our country.
My heart still goes out to the families that have lost loved ones on this day 11 years ago.
I too will always remember.
